Our Members
Founded in 2006 at Virginia Tech, PACÉ (pronounced Pah-chay) is focused on promoting awareness, providing education and supporting projects that will make a difference in the lives of others.
Our members are made up of students and community members with skills that range from engineering and international development to marketing and fund raising. We believe that everyone has something to contribute, regardless of social, academic or professional background. Together, we are building a pool of valuable resources that offer hope, encouragement and support to many.
No experience is required. All you need is the desire to make a change.
Our History
PACÉ (Poverty Awareness Coalition for Equality) began in 2006 as a small discussion group at Virginia Tech. Originally, the group provided a forum for sharing thoughts and information on the issues of poverty and social justice. But soon group members realized that they had an opportunity to do more than talk. They could actually do something. And so PACÉ was formed as a means to get the message out to others - we can make a positive impact in our community and around the world. We only need to act.
Today, PACÉ hosts more than 30 members and continues to grow. With an increasing presence in the community, PACÉ actively pursues fund-raising projects, service opportunities and educational outreach programs.
Our Projects
Every year PACÉ contributes monetary donations towards philanthropic causes of our choice. Fund raisers are held throughout the fall and spring semester to help us raise funds. Specific projects to donate towards are determined based on a majority vote of the group.
